MURPHYSBORO, Ill. (WSIL) -- A 21-year-old was found guilty of attempted murder this week after a 6-day trial in connection to a shooting incident which took place in Carbondale in March of 2022.
Jackson County State's Attorney Marsha Cascio-Hale announced Zoremoreyon Moore, 21 of Marion, was found guilty of attempted murder, two counts of aggravated battery with a firearm, two counts of aggravated discharge of a firearm and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon on March 25, 2025, following the trial.
According to Cascio-Hale, she detailed the events which unfolded on March 20, 2022, where police in Carbondale responded to the area of Raawi's General Store after they received a report for shots fired. Officers then found the victim, identified as Jakobi Shered, who had gunshot wounds to his side, back and chest, Cascio-Hale detailed.
Three days later, on March 23, 2022, Marion Police took Moore, along with a female, into custody. Authorities found a loaded Glock 9mm handgun in Moore's possession and he later confessed and identified Shered as the victim, Cascio-Hale said.
Moore could face a sentence between 31 years and 85 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections, the Jackson County Assistant State's Attorney Sophia Allen said.
