Middle school student charged with making threats of violence against a school at football game

MARTIN, Tenn. (WSIL) -- A student has been charged with making threats of violence against a school after authorities investigate a social media post at a football game on Friday night.

The Martin Police Department stated a student at Westview High School alerted a Martin school resource officer about a possible threat posted on Snapchat at a football game on the night of September 20 at 8:10 p.m.

Investigators immediately responded to the game and learned the suspect who posted the threat was not physically at the game.

Authorities then identified a suspect who was at their home in Milan, Tennessee.

Martin police said a Trenton Middle School student was later charged with Making Threats of Violence Against a School.

The TN Homeland Security, the UTM Department of Public Safety and the Weakley County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the investigation.
