MARION, Ill. -- A woman was taken to jail after being accused of theft in Williamson County.

The Williamson County Sheriff's Office said deputies served a search warrant at a home in the 1400-block of Danielle Court in Marion at 8:55 a.m. on Wednesday, August 14.

After what the sheriff's office described as an extensive investigation, detectives identified a "significant embezzlement scheme" which resulted in one person taken into custody.

The sheriff's office said AnnaMarie E. Cook faces charges of theft (over $100,000), forgery and wire fraud.

Cook was then taken to the Williamson County Sheriff's Office.
