SIKESTON, Mo. (WSIL) -- Police in Sikeston updated the public about their investigation into a shooting which they say resulted in one person injured and taken to a hospital on Monday evening.
Now a suspect is in custody and faces charges relating to the shooting incident.
The Sikeston Department of Public Safety said officers responded to the area of the 800-block of W. Gladys Street during the evening hours on October 21, after they were informed of multiple shots fired.
Police said one person was injured from the gunshots and was taken to an area hospital for treatment.
The Criminal Investigation Unit (CIU) started investigating the shooting incident.
On Wednesday, October 23, police said detectives with the CIU identified and arrested Demarion M. Richardson, 30 of Sikeston, as a suspect in the investigation.
Sikeston DPS stated Richardson was one of the people who discharged a gun in the 800-block of W. Gladys on October 21.
Richardson is held on charges of Unlawful Use of Weapon and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.
