TRIGG COUNTY, Ky (WSIL) -- Last month, a woman's body was found in Kentucky Lake, Trigg County, Ky and now court documents detail how she knew her alleged killer.
The body of Traci Jones, 41, was found June 20 floating in the lake in a 50-gallon Craftsman tote box, according to court documents. Two days later, 60 year old Jeffrey Rogers was arrested.
At the time of the arrest, police did not release how the two were connected. Now, an affidavit provided by Erath Count, Texas District Attorney Office details how the two knew each other.
Jones previously lived with the couple in their Arlington, Texas home.
Jones was involved in an altercation with Rogers and his wife Tammy Rogers, a former Arlington, TX Independent School District principal. Police believe this dispute led to the murder of Jones.
The affidavit from Jones’s attorney Health Allen alleges the dispute in question was over the fact that Jones was involved in pornography with Rogers and his wife, where Jones was compensated through Venmo. She shared a Wells Fargo account with Rogers.
Allen told investigators Rogers was at fault for Jones’s death because their relationship deteriorated after Jones threatened to contact a news station and out Rogers wife as an educator involved in porn production.
Investigators have surveillance video of Rogers leaving a Lowe's in North Texas where he purchased the alleged tote box to store her body, according to the court documents.
Rogers allegedly told Texas Rangers at the time of his arrest that his wife had nothing to do with Jones' death.
Rogers is charged with causing Jones death by strangulation, a first degree felony under Texas law. Tammy Rogers has not been charged.
