MCCRACKEN COUNTY, Ky. (WSIL) -- Three people face charges after authorities accuse them of forging checks.
The McCracken County Sheriff's Office said their detectives investigated some forged checks which were passed at banks in the area.
The sheriff's office said this crime is often known as "Operation Homeless" in the banking community which involves people going from town-to-town and stealing checks from mailboxes, then cashing them out at the bank.
Authorities said they learned of one person who was a suspect in the investigation and officials found a vehicle which was rented from Atlanta, Georgia, and traveled to the Paducah area.
On November 1, members with the sheriff's office conducted some surveillance on the vehicle involved.
The sheriff's office said they saw the vehicle pull into the parking lot and a traffic violation occurred. The vehicle was pulled over in a traffic stop and authorities said there were three people in the vehicle from the Atlanta, Georgia area.
After searching the vehicle, the sheriff's office said they found suspected marijuana, drug paraphernalia, multiple Schedule II prescription narcotics, computers, light tracing equipment, a portable printer and multiple forms of blank business check stock.

- Possession of a Forgery Device � class D felony

- Receiving Stolen Property under $500 � class B misdemeanor
Jahbril Kelley, 24 of Ellenwood, Georgia
- Possession of Marijuana � class B misdemeanor
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia � class A misdemeanor
- Engaging in Organized Crime � class B felony
- Possession of a Forgery Device � class D felony
- Criminal Attempt � Forgery 2nd Degree � class A misdemeanor
- Receiving Stolen Property under $500 � class B misdemeanor
Dontavis Sellars, 26 of Ellenwood, Georgia
- Engaging in Organized Crime � class B felony
- Possession of a Forgery Device � class D felony
- Criminal Attempt � Forgery 2nd Degree � class A misdemeanor
- Receiving Stolen Property under $500 � class B misdemeanor
- Possession of Controlled Substance 1st Degree (2 counts) � class D Felony
All three were taken to the McCracken County Regional Jail.
