DUNKLIN COUNTY, Mo. -- Two people are charged with murder after a six-month-old child died earlier in January.
Missouri court records show both Tosha Hill and Cody Stark face several felony charges which were filed on February 28, 2024. Both are charged with second-degree murder, three counts of endangering the welfare of a child and a charge of abuse or neglect of a child.
A probable cause statement for both Hill and Stark stated on January 4, 2024, at 1:39 p.m., first responders went to a location on North Main Street in Gibson for a six-month-old not breathing. The deputy in the report stated he arrived on scene and Medic One had the victim in the back of the ambulance. The victim was described as being the child to Hill and Stark.
The victim was deceased and rigor mortise was already set in, according to the probable cause statement.
A toxicology report was received by the Dunklin County Sheriff's Office which stated the victim tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine, the probable cause statement read.
The statement also noted both Hill and Stark tested positive for methamphetamine. Two other children were in the home as well, both alleged to be children of Stark and Hill. Both children reportedly tested positive for methamphetamine, with one of the children also testing positive for amphetamine.
Tosha Hill is in custody in the Clay County Detention Center in Arkansas, awaiting extradition to Dunklin County.
Cody Stark is in the Dunklin County Jail and is scheduled for a counsel status hearing at the Dunklin County Justice Center on March 7.
