UPDATE:

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. -- A suspect has been charged in the shooting that left one person injured Tuesday.

Officials with the Cape Girardeau Police Department  say Jacob Sipp, 22, of Bertrand, Missouri, was formally charged with Class A felony of assault in the first degree and felony armed criminal action.

Sipp is currently being held on a $250,000 cash-only bond.

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. -- One person is in custody after police respond to a shooting where one was reported shot.

The Cape Girardeau Police Department said it happened around 9:05 a.m. on Tuesday. Officers responded to the 1000-block of N. Spanish Street where they found one person who was reportedly shot in the leg.

Officers on scene provided care to the person who was shot until EMS got to the scene.

Police also stated they found who they believe is a possible suspect in the shooting and took them in custody.

The suspect was taken to the Cape Girardeau Police Department and is awaiting formal charges.

Authorities said is an ongoing investigation and anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to call the Cape Girardeau Police Department at 573-335-6621 or call anonymous at 573-339-6313.

Police also said there doesn’t appear to be any further threat to the public regarding this incident.
