WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Ill. (WSIL) -- A man faces multiple charges after authorities said he attacked another with a knife. The victim however defended himself and the suspect ended up going to the hospital and was arrested.
The Williamson County Sheriff's Office said at around 3:30 a.m. on October 6, deputies responded to a home in the 11000-block of Revere Street in the Paulton area in the eastern portion of the county.
The sheriff's office said deputies were talking with the homeowner who said a man forced their way into the home and threatened harm to the homeowner with a knife.
The suspect left the area before law enforcement arrived at the scene.
Deputies started investigating and then responded to another nearby report of a disturbance later that morning at 8:12 a.m.
Authorities stated the suspect of the home invasion was found in the yard of another residence nearby.
The sheriff's office then said Carl T. Stokes became aggressive and went into the roadway and attacked the victim with a knife.
The victim defended himself and injured the suspect, the sheriff's office detailed.
Stokes had cuts and was taken to a local hospital and later released while the victim had minor cuts and declined medical treatment, the report stated.
The sheriff's office then took Stokes to jail and detailed the following charges he faces...

- 2 x Aggravated Battery/Deadly Weapon (Class 3 Felony)
