Williamson County hit-and-run crash victim dies

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Ill. (WSIL) -- The victim in a hit-and-run crash in Williamson County last week has died.

The Williamson County Sheriff's Office said Jose Bautista Jr., 44, has died from his injuries from a hit-and-run incident from back on November 27.

Bautista was in a St. Louis hospital getting treatment when he died, the sheriff's office said in a release on December 3.

The Williamson County Sheriff's Department earlier reported the crash happened on November 27 at around 5:05 a.m. along Skyline Drive where a man on an electric bike was hit by a truck.

On November 28, the suspect, identified as Guillermo "Henry" Lopez, was taken into custody and then charged with multiple offenses.

According to online court records, Lopez faces charges of Failure to give information/render aid, Leaving the Scene, Operate Uninsured Motor Vehicle and Failure to Reduce Speed.

The sheriff's office said the Williamson County State's Attorney has been notified for additional charges.
