CARBONDALE (WSIL) � Carbondale Police are investigating a deadly accident involving a train and a pedestrian in the downtown area.
Investigators say they’ve determined the victim walked across the railroad tracks andÌýa northbound Canadian Northern freight train struck the individual.
The victim died as a result of the collision. The victim is not being identified at this time pending notification of next of kin.Ìý
Traffic detours are currently still in place.

CARBONDALE (WSIL) � A train traveling through Carbondale has stopped after striking a pedestrian. Route 13 in Carbondale is currently closed due to the train being stopped on the tracks.
Carbondale Police are advising drivers to use the Mill Street underpass and the Pleasant Hill overpass forÌýeast and westbound traffic.ÌýFor north and southbound traffic, drivers should use Marion Street and Poplar Street.
We do not knowÌýthe condition of the pedestrian.
