HARRISBURG, Ill. (WSIL) -- Southeastern Illinois College's Model Illinois Government (MIG) is state champions once again.
The team has secured their third state championship in a row and 15th title overall after facing tough competition over the weekend against 16 other colleges and universities.
Along with claiming the state title, the Falcons also led in points and secured five major awards which includes Outstanding Large Delegation, Outstanding Person in the House of Representatives, Outstanding First Year Delegate in the House and Outstanding First Year Delegate in the Senate.
The program is in their 21st year and is labeled one of the top programs in the state, despite being one of the smaller schools in the competition.
“A three-peat is not only a testament to the program, it says a great deal about the quality of our students, said advisor Matt Lees. “Only one student returned from this last year’s team. My colleagues ask me where I consistency find such talented kids and my answer is simple my classes.
