CARBONDALE (WSIL) -- One of the candidates vying to be the next chancellor on SIU-Carbondale's campus no longer wants the job.
According to SIU System President Dan Mahony, Kenneth R. Evans, president of Lamar University in Texas, pulled his name from consideration on Sunday.
Mahoney hopes to have a new chancellor in place in Carbondale by July 1.
Two other candidates have already interviewed for the job:
- Susan R. Stapleton, special assistant to the provost at Western Michigan University
- Austin A. Lane, former president of Texas Southern University聽
