...HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM NOON CDT /1 PM EDT/ SATURDAY TO 7 PM
CDT /8 PM EDT/ TUESDAY...

* WHAT...Heat index values between 100 to 108 expected.

* WHERE...Portions of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western
Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.

* WHEN...From noon CDT /1 PM EDT/ Saturday to 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/
Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
illnesses.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The first prolonged stretch of heat and
humidity of the season will cause heat impacts to be greater than
normal.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

Gov. Pritzker to visit Carbondale, Cairo

(WSIL) -- Governor JB Pritzker is scheduled to visit southern Illinois Tuesday, August 4.

The Governor will first be at SIU Carbondale to join local leaders and discuss the COVID-19 response in Jackson County. The meeting will be at 10:30 a.m. in the SIU Student Center.

Later, Prizker will be heading to Cairo at 1:00 p.m. to tour a local food drive at Cairo Junior/Senior High School.

Governor Pritzker will also be joining local officials to discuss Illinois' infrastructure and the development of a river port in Cairo. That is happening at 2:30 p.m. at Magnolia Manor.
