MARION, Ill. (WSIL) -- Deaconess Illinois Medical Center invited the public out to view their new CT Scanner on Friday.
The open house took place in the afternoon of Friday, March 21, which allowed the public in to see their new GE 128 Slice CT Revolution Ascend scanner in the Imaging Waiting Area.
Those in attendance were able to learn about the scanner and the advanced capabilities. The scanner is able to enhance image quality, reduce scan times and expand diagnostic services.
The scanner will also be able to offer CT Perfusion and Coronary CTA scans. Healthcare professionals say this helps with critical insights for patient health.
Deaconess Illinois Medical Center says CT Perfusion scans are used to help detect areas of blood flow in the brain. They are also used to help diagnose conditions, such as stroke and other cerebrovascular diseases, medical staff stated.
Healthcare professionals also stated Coronary CTA scans will also be used to help visualize coronary arteries, along with detecting blockages or abnormalities, which aid in diagnosing coronary artery disease, along with other heart conditions.Â
