HERRIN, Ill. -- The Herrin Animal Control received recognition this week for its efforts at saving dogs and cats around the region.Â
The center posted on Friday morning to announce it received a "No-Kill Status" from . This recognition goes toward shelters that manage a 90% save rate for the animals.Â
"We are extremely happy to have received this prestigious accomplishment helping the City Of Herrin animals get a second chance on life," wrote the center. "We cannot possibly save them all, but we can save most."
The Herrin center received this recognition for its work in 2023.Â
The center thanked Mayor Steve Frattini, the Herrin City Government, City Council, Herrin Police Department, Chief David Dorris, the center's rescue network, fosters, volunteers and adopters for their help in achieving this percentage.Â
