HERRIN, Ill. (WSIL) -- The Herrin House of Hope is hosting its 9th annual Family Fun Day but this time with a new twist.
This is the organization's biggest fundraising event. This year because of COVID-19 instead of live entertainment at Herrin Park all activities will take place on multi online platforms. Reverend Doctor Troy Benitone is the organizer of the virtual event. His goal is to top last year's record of $34,000 in donations.
"Here in the House of Hope, it does a daily hot meal program. We've been doing that for 8 years. We have fed as of now, one quarter of a million people, it's amazing. So, we celebrate that as one of the big things. We serve at least 2,000 people here through our thrift store. We also have an auxiliary food pantry that serve a couple thousand a year too," said event organizer, Reverend Doctor Troy Benitone.
Everyone is invited to come out and enjoy the Herrin House of Hope's Virtual Family Fun Day by joining the church through the Page or at
