15-year-old from Carbondale found, returns back home

CARBONDALE, Ill. (WSIL) -- UPDATE: The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office reported the teen has returned back home after she was found at a home in Benton, Illinois.

ORIGINAL: Authorities are looking for a 15-year-old girl who is considered missing from Carbondale.

The Jackson County Sheriff's Office said Alexus Perez, 15, was reported missing on February 18, at 3:35 a.m. At this time, the temperatures were well below freezing and have stayed below freezing through the next several days after.

She is described as a Hispanic female with black hair, roughly 5' tall and weighs 145 pounds.

The sheriff's office said she left her home on South Illinois Avenue in Carbondale and possibly left on foot, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with a tie dye smiley face. She was also described as wearing black Hello Kitty pajama pants and may have a black backpack, along with a green sling style bag with a monkey on it.

Authorities said she may be going to Carterville or in the area of Rockford, Illinois.
