CARBONDALE, Ill. -- A 21-year-old faces multiple charges after police find a gun during a traffic stop last week.

Carbondale Police Department said it happened on November 5 when officers stopped a vehicle in the 200-block of South Wall Street for a registration plate which wasn't displayed.

Police said they found Natly M. Johnson, 21 of Elizabethtown, Illinois, was in possession of a gun which they said was previously reported stolen.

They also said there was evidence this gun was fired within the city, but without any property damage or injuries resulting from when it was fired.

Johnson was taken to the Jackson County Jail where he faces charges of unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, possession of a stolen firearm, discharge of a firearm, improper display of registration, unlawful possession of vehicle title and endangering the life or health of a child.
