Police: One in custody after reported stabbing and fire on Greyhound bus, victim taken to hospital

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ill. -- One person is in custody after allegedly starting a fire and stabbing someone on a bus in Franklin County on Wednesday morning.

Illinois State Police (ISP) said the incident took place at 4:14 a.m. on February 21, along I-57 SB near the 62 mile marker.

ISP stated Troop 10 officers responded to a call of a Greyhound bus on fire.

A passenger is alleged to have set a seat on fire and is accused of stabbing another passenger.

ISP said the person who was accused of setting the fire and stabbing someone was taken into custody. The victim was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The fire was also extinguished and the other passengers were reported to have been taken to a safe location.
