BROOKPORT, Ill. -- The U.S. 45 Ohio River "Brookport" Bridge is scheduled to temporarily close for two days next week for paving operations.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) is slated to temporarily close the bridge on July 1 at 8 a.m., and will remain closed through July 2 until 5 p.m.
The closure is to allow a contractor to perform a mill and pave operation on the Kentucky side approaching the bridge.
The bridge will remain closed on the night of July 1 due to the placement of equipment.
KYTC states the City of Brookport will also work on storm drainage valves and piping during this time as well. This will take place near the end of the bridge on the Illinois side.
No marked detours will be in place. Motorists may self-detour using Interstate 24 over the Ohio River bridge.
