Driver Faces Several Citations After Deadly Two-Vehicle Crash in Du Quoin

DU QUOIN, Ill. -- A Du Quoin man was cited with several traffic violations after a crash which left one dead and sent three to a hospital on Sunday.

Illinois State Police (ISP) continue to investigate a crash involving two vehicles along US 51, just south of Greens Market Road in Du Quoin at 4:54 p.m. on March 17.

ISP stated Dylan Weeks, 22 of Du Quoin, was driving a 2013 Black Infiniti, going south on US 51 when the vehicle crossed the center median and crashed with a 2013 Red Dodge.

Weeks was sent to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. A 19-year-old passenger in Weeks' vehicle was air-lifted to a regional hospital with life-threatening injuries while an infant passenger in Weeks vehicle died at the scene, according to an ISP report.

The 56-year-old driver with the Red Dodge was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Illinois State Police said Weeks was cited for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, Illegal Transportation of Alcohol by a Driver, Improper Lane Usage, Failure to Properly Secure Child in Child Restraint, Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident and Failure to Wear Seatbelt.

The 19-year-old passenger in Weeks' vehicle was cited for Failure to Wear Seatbelt.

The crash is still under investigation.
