GOLCONDA, Ill. (WSIL) -- A training is taking place on Monday night in Golconda and fire officials want you to be aware of the large presence of firefighters.

The Rural Pope County Fire Protection District informed the public, stating they will be conducting a training exercise using liquified petroleum gas. This will be near the levy wall in Golconda near where the dumpsters were at.

Personnel with the fire district stated there will be a large amount of firefighters on scene at around 6 p.m. They also said there may be a large fire ball which may be seen throughout the community.

The Illinois Fire Service Institute is providing the training exercise.

The fire department stated if anyone wants to watch to be sure you are at a very safe distance away from the training location.
