Garage, vehicles a total loss after fire in Benton

BENTON, Ill. (WSIL) -- Authorities informed the public to avoid the area of Highway 34, Goldheimer and Cutler streets in Benton at the time a structure fire occurred on Sunday As firefighters were working on the scene  

The Franklin County Emergency Management Agency alerted the public at 6:42 p.m. on March 9, about the fire.

Multiple fire crews responded to the call on Goldheimer Street.

Ewing Northern Fire Department Chief Doug Webb said a detached garage and a home were damaged.

An RV and multiple vehicles were also damaged by the fire, according to the Benton Fire Department.

The garage was reported as a total loss and the home had damage to the rear part of the structure, however, most of the home was saved.

No injuries were reported.
