Highway to temporarily close for culvert replacement in Franklin County

ROYALTON, Ill. (WSIL) -- The Illinois Department of Transportation is alerting the public of a highway closure this weekend in Franklin County while crews work on replacing a culvert.

The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) said Illinois 149 will be closed from a mile east of Royalton and 2.5 miles west of Zeigler on Friday, October 18 at 6 p.m.

Crews will be working throughout the weekend to replace a culvert. The project is anticipated to be completed by 6 a.m. on October 21.

Detour signs will be up to alert motorists about the upcoming work zone. Motorists are informed to obey speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be on alert for workers and equipment.
