GOREVILLE, Ill. (WSIL) -- I-57 southbound lanes will be closing on Tuesday evening for repairs on guardrails and pavement.
The Illinois Department of Transportation - District 9 announced the closure will take place starting at 7 p.m. on February 25, for a 15-mile stretch from Exit 30 to Exit 45 (I-24 exit) in the southbound lanes of I-57.
This closure is for emergency guardrail repairs and pavement repairs.
The closure is anticipated to last through 7 a.m. on February 26.
Detours will be posted to alert southbound I-57 motorists to take I-24, just south of Marion.
Motorists can expect delays and should consider alternative routes to avoid the area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and message boards in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices, and be alert for workers and equipment. -IDOT - District 9
