Marion Police Alert Public of Phone Scam

MARION, Ill. -- Police in Marion are alerting the public of a scam in which the caller is identifying themselves as the chief of police and requesting money over the phone.

The Marion Police Department alerted the public about the scam on Wednesday afternoon, stating the caller identifies as David Fitts, the Marion Chief of Police. The caller then requests money over the phone, police said.

Marion police said they will not call and request any payment for any services or donations over the phone.
