.Historically high forecast rainfall amounts will create a
particularly dangerous situation flash flooding and flooding
situation this afternoon through Sunday.

...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH SUNDAY MORNING...

* WHAT...Flash flooding and flooding caused by excessive rainfall is
expected. Preliminary projections of up to 1 foot of total
rainfall over parts of the area is not out of the question.

* WHERE...All of southeast Missouri, southern Illinois, southwest
Indiana and Western Kentucky

* WHEN...Through Sunday morning.

* IMPACTS...
...This is a particularly dangerous situation...

Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams,
and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams
may rise out of their banks. Low-water crossings may be flooded.
Extensive street flooding and flooding of creeks and rivers are
possible. Flooding may occur in homes, businesses and other
locations not normally subject to flooding. Roadways may wash away
near creeks and culverts.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Multiple rounds of locally heavy rainfall over several days
will result in extreme forecast amounts of up to 1 foot of
rain that will cause the risk of flash flooding and flooding
to rise markedly and create a particularly dangerous flooding
situation.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Monitor later forecasts and be alert for Flash Flood and Flood
Warnings. Be prepared to take action when flooding develops.

TONIGHT...

* WHAT...South winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 55 mph.

* WHERE...Portions of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western
Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.

* WHEN...Until midnight CDT /1 AM EDT/ tonight.

* IMPACTS...Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree
limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high
profile vehicles. Use extra caution.

Secure outdoor objects.

Ohio River bridge reopened after crews clear dangling crashed semi truck

CAIRO, Ill. (WSIL) -- UPDATE: The bridge is back open and the crashed semi truck has been cleared.

ORIGINAL: 3:21 p.m. -- The U.S. 51 bridge spanning over the Ohio River connecting Cairo to Wickliffe is shut down due to a semi truck crash blocking both lanes.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet - District 1 reported the incident happened around 2:45 p.m.

Officials said the semi truck is hanging over the guardrail on the Kentucky's side approaching the bridge.

The estimated time the bridge will be reopened is around 7:15 p.m., according to transportation officials.

Motorists are urged to detour using U.S. 60 to Paducah by taking I-24 West to Vienna, then down Illinois Route 145 to U.S. 51, then U.S. 51 South.
