GOLCONDA, Ill. (WSIL) -- A local fire department in southern Illinois welcomed a new fire engine to help with responding to calls.
The Rural Pope County Fire Protection District recently added a new fire engine this week to replace an older engine.
The 2003 Spartan Luverne fire truck has a 1,250 gallon a minute pump with a 1,000 gallon tank. The truck arrived at the fire department in Golconda earlier this week.
After the truck arrived, personnel with the fire department told us firefighters worked throughout the night to place equipment on the truck and get it ready.
The new engine is now in service and will be housed at the Dixon Springs station.
Fire officials said they purchased the truck from Bradford Fire Apparatus in Jonesboro, Illinois.
Personnel with the Rural Pope County Fire Protection District thanked the Bradford Fire Apparatus and Lake of Egypt Fire Protection District for a quick and seamless purchase.
