Two arrested after law enforcement respond to suicidal report in Williamson County

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Ill. (WSIL) -- Two people were arrested after authorities respond to a report of a suicidal person on Thursday.

The Williamson County Sheriff's Office said their deputies responded to the 13000-block of Route 37 at 6:01 p.m. on March 20.

The sheriff's office said once they arrived at the scene, Kourtney Gursky said to deputies her father, Robert Dillon, was inside a shop and stated he was going to kill himself after a verbal incident with him and his wife took place. Authorities said Gursky stated she called the sheriff's office to kick in the door.

Deputies went to the door of where Gursky was said to be at. The sheriff's office said they tried making contact with Dillon multiple times and knocked on the door and then made entry inside.

The sheriff's office stated both the wife of Dillon and Gursky wanted them to force their way into the building.

Before making entry, the sheriff's office stated they escorted and advised Gursky and another female to wait on the other side of the building for safety.

After forcing their way into the building, the sheriff's office said Robert Dillon became aggressive, moved towards law enforcement with an aggressive manner, refused to come out and resisted authorities. Authorities then said Robert Dillon was being a threat to himself and others so they tried to detain him.

The sheriff's office added Robert Dillon has a violent past, and has been previously been cited with charges, which include battery, aggravated assault, residential burglary, theft, resisting/obstructing a peace officer.

Law enforcement said he continued to resist authorities and was warned multiple times to comply with commands and then was tased. Authorities also said Robert Dillon had a knife on him as well when they handcuffed him.

The sheriff's office also stated Gursky and another female went back over to where law enforcement was during the time authorities were detaining Robert Dillon and were ordered to move back roughly a dozen times.

"Kourtney was escorted away from the area where Robert was resisting and Tasers were being actively deployed at which time she struck Sheriff Diederich multiple times in the head. Kourtney was taken off balance, lowered to the ground, handcuffed, and advised she was under arrest," the sheriff's office stated in a release.

The sheriff's office also claimed their deputies sustained injuries during the time of the struggle with Robert Dillon and Gursky.

Both Dillon and Gursky were taken to the Williamson County Jail.
