VIENNA, Ill. (WSIL) -- The Student Council and Youth for Christ at Vienna High School, visited a neighboring school to support them after one of their classmates passed away.

The student groups visited Buncombe Grade School on Wednesday, served the students there pizza and let them know they have the support of their community after their classmate, 6th grade student Brayden Ames died recently.

Buncombe school stated Brayden died over the weekend in a side-by-side accident.

Schools in the region also wore the color blue to honor Brayden's memory, the Vienna School groups stated.

"It was great to watch as the high school students hung out with the younger students and served them pizza and drinks. While nothing can cure the pain of losing a classmate, the interactions of these two groups was clearly a joyful help," said student council sponsor Wade Stewart.

Youth for Christ sponsor Sherie Smith commented, “Our community has suffered loss over the years and while that is always difficult it is encouraging to watch as people rally around each other in order to get through it. From the oldest to the youngest we are here for each other and for the Ames family. The student leaders in Youth for Christ wanted to come and help and they have been successful at that today.

Arrangements for Brayden can be found .
