I-69 back open after being closed five hours due to crash near Benton, KY

BENTON, Ky. (WSIL) -- UPDATE: Dec. 9, 2:22 p.m. -- The roadway is now back open.

ORIGINAL: Dec. 9, 9:34 a.m. -- A crash near Benton has blocked traffic on I-69 on Monday morning.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) - District 1 alerted the public at 9:09 a.m. about the crash.

The crash happened near the 38 mile marker between KY 1949/Wadesboro Road and KY 2606/Jackson School Road. Traffic is blocked in both directions while crews are on scene.

KYTC said cleanup is ongoing and is estimated to be cleaned up at around 2 p.m.

Motorists are urged to use caution and seek alternative ways around the crash site.
