Last quiet day before rounds of rain & snow

WSIL (Carterville) -- Today is the last of our quiet pattern we've been holding onto all week. Temperatures as you're out the door are somewhere close to freezing but with winds out of the north, wind chills are falling into the 20s.

A few clouds will mix with sunshine today, but overall it'll be a quiet Thursday. Highs will struggle to climb out of the 30s, which isn't unusual for this time of the year.

We're still keeping our eyes on two separate patterns that will bring the chance for rain and snow.

The first will move in by tomorrow afternoon and evening, falling as a wintry mix turning into rain. Rain continues to fall off and on through Friday, overnight and into Saturday.

We'll see a brief period of dry time early Sunday before more rain comes in to kick off the start of the work week.

The second disturbance makes an appearance late Monday, early Sunday.
