Man seriously injured during crash on Interstate 57

FRANKLIN COUNTY (WSIL) -- One person was seriously injured during a crash on Interstate 57 Friday morning.

Illinois State Police say a Ford truck was traveling south in Franklin County when they left the road, crossed the center median and rolled over numerous times. The driver, 33-year-old Kirk Wilson of St. Louis, was ejected.

The truck then struck a semi head on.

Wilson was flown to a regional hospital with life-threatening injuries. The semi driver, James Grimes of Loredo, Texas, was taken to an area hospital for minor injuries.

Wilson was cited for Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident, Improper Lane Usage, Failure to Wear Seatbelt by Driver, Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle and Operating a Vehicle with Expired Registration.

The crash is still under investigation.
