VAN BUREN, Mo. (WSIL) -- Heavy rain in southeast Missouri is contributing to rising river levels.
According to the National Water Prediction Service, the Current River at Van Buren is expected to reach 30 feet on November 6 at 6 p.m. This is expected to crest three feet above the major flooding threshold.
Down the river in Doniphan in Ripley County, the river is expected to crest on November 7 at 12 p.m. at 28 feet. This is six feet above the major flooding threshold.Â
The Van Buren Fire & Rescue have sandbags available for residents to help protect their property from the rising river levels.
The sandbags are available on the backside of the new courthouse in the upper parking lot. You are urged to bring a truck and trailer.
