WSIL (Carterville, Ill.)-- This morning, we are tracking scattered to widespread showers this morning associated with the remnants of Francine. Temperatures are in the mid 60s for most of us, and highs today will be in the upper 70s to near 80 for most of us.Â
The main weather focus today, weatherwise, will continue to be the impacts from the remnants of Francine. Through the early morning hours, we will still see widespread showers, as rain bands continue to track from southeast to northwest though 8 or 9 this morning. A few rumbles of thunder are possible, but no severe weather is expected.Â
We will also see the potential for gusty winds this morning out of the east south east at 10 to 15 miles per hour, with gusts between 15 to 25 miles per hour as heavier showers move over the region. Winds should calm as we get into the midday and afternoon hours.Â
Shower and storm chances will become more hit and miss by the midday hours, and a break in the shower activity is likely. Not everyone will see dry time, however, as there will be at least a 40 percent chance of showers.Â
For the evening, more widespread rain and storms are expected especially in our southern counties after 5 or 6 this evening. We could see one or to stronger storms, but widespread severe weather is not expected. Widespread rain will last through the overnight hours tonight, but after midnight, we will see storms become more hit and miss once again. Â
Hit and miss storm chances will linger through most of the day on Saturday, but the best chances for rain will be in the morning and then again in the late afternoon through the evening. Off and on showers will stick around once again for the day on Sunday, but after lunchtime Sunday, we will finally see showers leave the region.Â
Temperatures this weekend will be in the upper 70s and lower 80s both days due to rain and overcast skies. We should see any severe weather at any point after Friday evening.Â
Additional rainfall of 1 to 2 inches is likely, with locally higher totals possible. Next week does look to be hot and dry. Â
