CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. -- One person is in custody facing several felony charges in a shooting incident which left one person injured in Cape Girardeau.
Police in Cape Girardeau went out to the 600 and 700 blocks of Bellevue for a shots fired report on September 17 at around 1:30 a.m.
Once they got there, officers found a victim with a gunshot wound a few blocks away from the original scene. That person was then taken to a hospital for treatment for what police said appeared to be a non-life threatening wound.
During the investigation, Cape Girardeau Police Department said they identified Kalum Campbell as one of the suspects in the case.
Weeks later, on October 10, a warrant was issued for Campbell's arrest for a Class A Felony Assault in the first degree, three counts of Armed Criminal Action and two counts of Class B Felony Assaults in the first degree and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, issued by the Cape Girardeau Prosecuting Attorney's Office.
On October 12, at around 11:50 a.m., Cape Girardeau Police Department officers and Cape Girardeau County Sheriff's Office went to the 0-100-block of Rivercrest Drive where they took Campbell into custody for the warrant.
He is being held with no bond at this time.
The investigation is still ongoing.
