KENOSHA, Wis. (WQOW) - President Donald Trump will be in Kenosha, Wisconsin Tuesday afternoon despite requests from Kenosha's mayor and Governor Tony Evers that he stay in Washington.

"I am disappointed that he is coming," said Mayor John Antaramian. "The president is always welcome, but at this time, it's just the wrong time. Right now is a time for us to heal and to be able to look inward and deal with the issues that we have to deal with."

The president is scheduled to tour damage from rioters and meet with law enforcement and first responders.

The president is not planning to meet with Jacob Blake's family, however.

"I may at some point do that, but they did have a lawyer that wanted to be on the phone and I said, 'No, that's inappropriate,'" President Trump said. "But I gave my best regards. Again, I spoke with the pastor."

Jacob Blake Sr. told CNN Monday night that the family doesn't have a pastor.

"I don't know who he talked to. Furthermore, I don't care who he talked to," Blake Sr. said. "This is not politics. This is about the life of my son."

The White House later clarified Trump spoke to the pastor of Jacob Blake's mother.

During a press briefing on Monday, the president was asked if his visit would lead to an increase in violence.

"It could also increase enthusiasm," Trump said. "And it could increase love and respect for our country, and that's why I'm going."
