Carterville (WSIL) -- An incredibly gloomy day out there today with fully cloudy conditions and on and off rainfall. The rainfall also helped keep temperatures a bit cooler for most in the upper 60s for highs. Showers and storms will continue throughout the afternoon hours so expect a wet evening commute as well.Â
We definitely need the rain as we still have a solid drought continuing for most of the region. After all is said and done were looking at a total of about 1-3 inches of rain areawide which will certainly help to put a dent in the drought across our region.Â

After our rainy day today we will be much drier the rest of the week with sunshine returning Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday and temperatures increasing slowly into the low 80s.Â
