MARION, lll (WSIL) -- A local food pantry wants you to clean out your freezer, so you can help fill theirs.
The Salvation Army Food Pantry in Marion is experiencing a shortage of meats. They have several freezers that are completely empty.
Now, they're asking any one cleaning out their freezers to donate. Especially any hunters that might have extra venison getting ready for the next deer season this fall.
"It's just something that, especially thinking about our men and our seniors and our veterans that really like having that, and just thinking that probably, there's probably some freezers out there that are pretty full of venison from last season or this winter. that if it's not going to be utilized by your family we would certainly appreciate it." said Salvation Army of ¾ÅÓÎÌåÓý Illinois Social Services Manager, Cami Horn.
Horn says any venison donations need to come from a licensed processor and they have to be labeled.
