ARLINGTON, Ky. -- A 20-year-old was indicted on charges of murder and assault after his mother reportedly passed away from injuries in a Tennessee hospital.
Kentucky State Police said it happened on Wednesday, January 10 when Tyler Prince called 9-1-1 for an ambulance for his mother, Jessica Gerth, in which she reportedly had fallen in the home.
Police said after Gerth was sent to Mercy Health Paducah, physicians there found multiple injuries on Gerth's body which were not consistent with the reported fall.
Gerth was then taken to a trauma center in Tennessee and died two days later.
Tyler Price, 20, was initially charged with 1st-degree assault. He was later charged with murder after Gerth passed away from her reported injuries.
On January 18, the Carlisle County Grand Jury voted to indict Prince on both of the charges.
Prince remains in the Ballard County Jail.
