MURPHYSBORO, Ill. -- An organization is giving back to area law enforcement ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday.

The Illinois Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) ľĹÓÎĚĺÓý Region Auxiliary visited southern Illinois police and sheriff's departments on Wednesday and delivered Thanksgiving meals to those who may have to work through the holiday.
“Our brothers and sisters in law enforcement may be patrolling in a squad car rather than sitting at a Thanksgiving table this long weekend, so these meal deliveries let them know their service is appreciated,â€ said Cindy Dunning, ľĹÓÎĚĺÓý Region FOP Auxiliary Vice President.
The FOP Auxiliary volunteers visited the Carbondale, Marion and Murphysboro Police Departments. They also visited the Jackson, Franklin and Union County Sheriff's Departments as well.
The food was prepared by Karl Gusentine, owner of Urban Legend BBQ in Energy, Illinois. Gusentine is also a district trustee with the Illinois FOP State Lodge.
