Manufacturers will go on bus tour to Carbondale and Murphysboro

The US economy continued to add jobs at a robust pace last month

JACKSON COUNTY, Ill. -- Manufacturers will bring the bus tour to Carbondale and Murphysboro today to acknowledge Manufacturing Month. 

The tour is currently moving across the state to raise awareness of the growing industry of manufacturing. The bus team's presentations will get family and school groups together to get people excited about job opportunities. 

Members of the community may visit the bus at either of the times below:

  • 2:30 â€� 4:00 p.m., Southern Illinois University Research Park, 1740 Innovation Drive, Carbondale, IL
  • 4:30â€� 6:00 p.m., 17th Street Barbecue, 32 N. 17th Street, Murphysboro, IL 

Manufacturers joining the bus tour involve Mark Denzler, President and CEO, Illinois Manufacturers� Association; Sarah Hartwick, Vice President of Education & Workforce Policy, Illinois Manufacturers� Association; David Boulay, PhD, President of the Illinois Manufacturing Excellence Center; Kristy Johns, Vice President of Marketing, Illinois Manufacturing Excellence Center, and more. 

The SIU stop will discuss companies based upon technology, while the BBQ stop will include a ribbon-cutting.Â
