MCCRACKEN COUNTY, Ky. -- Local deputies have asked the public to help find a suspect in the reported attempted theft of a trailer in Paducah.Â
The McCracken County Sheriff's Office revealed a look into the situation on Tuesday night. According to the department, deputies tended to the scene at Roy Lee Road on Monday, Aug. 19 in West Paducah, Ky., where initial reports indicated that a 14 foot trailer had been stolen.Â
Deputies say a suspect driving a truck tried to steal the trailer from a business. The suspect allegedly connected the trailer to his or her truck and drove south along Roy Lee Road for around a half mile. Officials indicate that the suspect did not properly attach the trailer, and a small bump in the road dislodged the attachment from the truck.Â
According to the sheriff's office, the trailer rolled away from the driving truck about 282 feet into a tree. The suspect reportedly left the scene without stopping to get the trailer.Â
Authorities provided the photo above for residents who may recognize the truck. The photo shows an older, gray/blue pickup truck connected to the blue trailer.Â
Locals with possible information surrounding the suspect should call the sheriff's office at 270-444-4719.
