MOUNDS, Ill. --Â The Meridian Bobcats have earned the right to compete for a state title.
Meridian defeated Chicago Hope Academy in the semifinals of the Class 1A boys basketball tournament, 68-60.
Antonio Flenoid led the Bobcats with 24 points and 12 rebounds.
Jai’deon Reed added 15 points and Will Thurston added 11points and 6 assists to pace the Bobcats.
Meridian trailed 35-31 at the half but outscored Chicago Hope Academy 23-12 in the third quarter to take control of the game.
Meridian earns the right to play in the state title game Saturday at 11 a.m. in Champaign.
