CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Children of the early 2000s, listen up. Phineas and Ferb are sending their creator to Carbondale.Â
SIU's Student Programming Council has announced Dan Povenmire as the featured guest for Saluki Family Weekend 2024.Â
Povenmire is most well-known for the creation of the hit Disney Channel show, "Phineas and Ferb." The cartoon ran for four seasons and a movie from 2007 to 2015. A reunion movie premiered on Disney+ in 2020, and the show is set to return for two more seasons on the streamer soon.Â
In addition to creating the show, Povenmire also leant his voice the show's main villain, Dr. Doofenshmirtz.Â
Outside of Disney, Povenmire gave his skills to more shows, including "Spongebob Squarepants" and "Family Guy."Â
Povenmire is set to speak at SIU Carbondale's Student Center Ballrooms on Thursday, Sept. 19 at 6:30 p.m. Following the discussion, Povenmire will meet a select number of lucky attendees.Â
The event is free and open to the public.Â
