CHARLESTON, Mo. (WSIL) -- One person is dead and two others injured after a two-vehicle crash on Thursday morning.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) stated the crash happened along US 62, roughly six miles east of Charleston, at 4:55 a.m. on January 16.
MSHP reported a 32-year-old was driving a 2020 Dodge Ram going west on US 62. At this time, police said the Dodge Ram crossed over the center line and hit a 2010 Honda Civic head on.
The driver of the Honda Civic was reported as a 39-year-old man from Vienna, Illinois. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Mississippi County Coroner. A passenger in the Honda Civic was a 27-year-old man from East Prairie, Missouri. The passenger was taken to a regional hospital with serious injuries.
The driver of the Dodge Ram was a 32-year-old from Clinton, Kentucky. He was air-lifted to regional hospital with serious injuries as well.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported this incident as the second death related to a traffic crash in the southeast Missouri area for 2025.
