Tracking a cold Thursday, with lots of afternoon sunshine

WSIL(Carterville, Ill.) -- This morning, we are tracking temperatures that are overall on the cold side areawide, with temperatures in the mid to upper 20s. Winds are out of the northwest at 10 to 15 miles per hour, 2hich is making it feel more like the mid teens for most of us. 

For today, skies will be overcast this morning, then mostly sunny in the afternoon hours. Despite the sunshine this afternoon, temperatures this afternoon will only top out in the upper 20s to lower 30s. Winds will be persistent out of the northwest at 10 to 15 miles per hour, with gusts potentially as high as 20 to 25 miles per hour. So, wind chill values today may only be in the mid teens. 

Overnight, clouds will build back in. partly Cloudy skies are expected early, then overcast skies are expected tomorrow afternoon. Despite the cloud cover, we will remain dry tomorrow. Temperatures tomorrow will be a little warmer, in the mid to upper 30s for tomorrow. 

We are tracking an all day rain event for Saturday, with a few imbedded thunderstorms. No severe weather is expected, but we are tracking the potential for flash flooding, as we could see 2 to 4 inches of rain, especially in our southern counties. Less rain is expected for southern Illinois, likely around 1-2".Â
