MARION, Ill. (WSIL) -- Two people face drug charges after law enforcement said they saw them make a drug deal at a hotel on Thursday.

The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office said some of their deputies were in Marion at the Econo Lodge hotel on the third floor trying to find a fugitive, when they looked over the handrail and saw a drug deal taking place between two people about 20 feet below them.

The sheriff's office accused Reva Warnsman of handing Gregory Wellmaker a bag of meth. In turn, authorities said Wellmaker handed over some cash to Warnsman.

Law enforcement said deputies started coming down the stairs to Wellmaker and Warnsman as they were arguing with each other.

The sheriff's office then said Wellmaker then moved towards a hallway and tossed the bag into a corner as deputies approached.

Both Warnsman and Wellmaker were then arrested. The sheriff's office said Warnsman admitted having a bag of Heroin in her boot as well.

“While these suspects looked left and right before conducting their drug transaction they failed to look up. We are everywhere, at the strangest of times, proactively protecting our community. This is exactly the type of deterrent we deliver," stated Sheriff Jeff Diederich.

The sheriff's office cited to for the following charges...

Reva Warnsman

  • Methamphetamine Delivery (Class 2 Felony)
  • Possession of Controlled Substance (Class 4 Felony)

Gregory Wellmaker

  • Possession of Methamphetamine (Class 3 Felony)

Both were then taken to the Williamson County Jail.
