News 3 also did a in June and their goal to get as many votes as possible.
Now that they'v won, Cheer director Jen Melton says this will provide a way for many kids to continue to cheer by taking care of some expenses for families, especially those struggling with finances due to Coronavirus impacts.
"Sports like this are maybe not a priority when you are having issues with finances," explains. "So we had parents who wondered if they were going to be able to afford it this season."
Molton adds that they couldn't have done it without the community's support. Many in the region not only voted for the gym but also reached out with words of encouragement.
